Terms for model providers

These terms apply when you list a catastrophe model on Craton's model exchange. They sit alongside the terms of service and the acceptable-use page, which apply to your account as to any other. Where they differ, these terms govern your listing. How to list a model is on the model exchange page.

In effect from 7 October 2026.

On this page

1. What you list

  • A listing names one model that runs on a platform you operate or control, and that answers the OasisPlatform version 2 API.
  • You must be entitled to make the model available on the terms you state, including any license that covers the model, its data and its outputs.
  • The model card you write must be accurate and kept up to date: what the model computes, what it assumes, what it leaves out, the license it is available under, and how to reach you. A change of model is a new version.

2. Review and withdrawal

  • A person at Craton reviews each listing and its card before it appears, and again whenever you change it, except when you only replace the login. Craton may refuse a listing without giving reasons.
  • Craton does not validate your model and does not rank it against others. The exchange lists models in name order.
  • You can withdraw your listing at any time. Craton can withdraw it if it breaches these terms or the acceptable-use page, if your platform stops answering for a sustained period, or if Craton stops running the exchange.

3. Your platform login

  • You give Craton a login for your platform. Craton stores it encrypted, never shows it again, and uses it only to check your listing and to run your model for the accounts that ask.
  • Give Craton a login that can do only that. You can replace or remove it at any time, which stops runs until a new one is in place.

4. The data a run sends you

When an account runs your model, Craton sends your platform the places and values in that run, as an OED location file. That data belongs to the account that sent it. You agree to:

  • use it only to run your model for that account and return the results;
  • delete it, and the portfolio and analysis made from it, once the run ends. Craton asks your platform to do this after every run, and you agree not to keep a copy elsewhere;
  • not sell it, share it, combine it with other data, train on it, or use it to contact the account or anyone else;
  • keep it secure while you hold it, and tell [email protected] without delay if it is exposed.

5. Access and payment

  • List a model as free, and any Craton account can run it. List it by grant, and only the accounts you grant can run it. Its card links to your own page, where people ask you for access.
  • Any payment for access is between you and the account. You bill your own customers. Craton takes no payment for your model and passes none on, and charges you nothing for listing it.

6. Results and responsibility

  • Results from your model are labeled as yours, with its version, on every page and response that shows them.
  • You are responsible for your model and the results it gives. Craton passes them on as your platform returns them and makes no claim about their accuracy.
  • Section 9 of the terms of service (as-is, and liability) applies to Craton's part in running the exchange, and section 12 (law, and disputes) applies to these terms.

7. Changes

These terms are versioned like the terms of service. A material change is announced on this page with the date it takes effect; keeping a model listed after that date is acceptance of the version then published.
